What is Little Athletics?
Junior track and field athletics – running, jumping and throwing. Relaxed and friendly, fun and fitness involving the whole family. Catering for both serious and social junior athletes.
Who is it for?
Boys and girls age groups from under 6 to under 17, plus a Tiny Tots group for 3 and 4 year olds. Age groups are determined by the athlete’s age on 31 December 2018. i.e. If you turn or turned 5 in 2019 you will be in the u6 age group.
Tiny Tots – What is it about?
The tiny tots is an informal games based program, designed for 3 and 4 year olds. It generally runs from 6pm to 7pm and parents are expected to actively participate with their children. Once a tiny tot turns 5 they are allowed to join the u6 age group and participate in the formal events.
When is it held?
Competitions are on Friday nights starting with a warmup at 5:45pm from September through to March with a short break over Christmas. New members can join at any time during the season. New members can trial for free for two weeks before signing up. Optional training/coaching sessions run by qualified athletics coaches held at other times during the week. Athletes may also compete at regional and state competitions held on various weekends during the season.
Friday nights usually end around 7.15-7.30pm for the younger athletes and 8.15-8.30pm for the older athletes. As a general rule allow about 30 minutes per event. Some evenings we are able to get through the events a little quicker. Often it depends on having helpers (timekeepers, starters etc) ready to go by 6pm. It is compulsory a parent/guardian remain at the field the entire night.

- Tiny Tots: $65
- U6: $100
- U7 to U17: $130
- (capped at $350 per family)
plus $80 refundable bonds per family. $32 for centre shirt. Crop Tops and Singlets available for u13+ athletes. No additional weekly costs or entry costs to Regional & State Championship events. Entry fees to other LAQ Carnivals (Winter, Spring, Summer) or the LAQ Combined Champs or other centre carnivals, will be in addition to the above fees. The LAQ carnivals will cost $15 each.
