Competitions

Please note that athletes must wear the correct centre uniform at all competitions.

Centre Competitions

Arana holds a centre competition most Friday nights during our season which runs from September to March (see our Season Calendar for exact dates).

Season Start:Friday 6th September 2019
Start Time:Please arrive by 5:30pm to help setup equipment. Warmup starts at 5:45pm with first event starting at 6:00pm.
Finish Time:We normally finish sometime between 8pm and 8.30pm.
Younger age groups finish earlier.

Coaching sessions are also available on other days.

All athletes are entitled to compete at centre competitions of any Little Athletics Centre in Queensland.

Centre Special Events

Brian Battersby Pentathlon

In honour of our centre Patron and former local area councillor, the Brian Battersby Pentathlon is open for all Arana Little Athletics Members. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in u9 and older age gruops. All athletes participating in u6 to u8 age groups will be awarded a participation medal.

Karen Knight Perpetual Trophy – U14 Girls

This multi-event program was held for the first time in the 1991/92 season. It is in honour of Karen Knight and the effort and support Frank and Jan Knight and their family have given our centre and Little Athletics in general. Events included are 80 metres hurdles, 200 metres, 800 metres, Discus, Shot Put, Long Jump.

John Marriott Perpetual Trophy – U14 Boys

This multi-event program is held in conjunction with the Karen Knight Perpetual Trophy event in honour of John Marriott who passed away from cancer in 1997. Events included are 90 metre hurdles, 200 metres, 800 metres, Discus, Shot Put, Long Jump.

Regional Competitions (Metro North Region)

All athletes (except Tiny Tots and U6) are eligible and encouraged to compete at our regional competitions. Parents need to complete our online nomination form (via ResultsHQ) by the relevant due date listed below.

Relays

Athletes compete individually in most competitions, but in teams for the “Relay” competitions. The Team Manager will group athletes into teams once all nominations have been submitted. All nominated athletes will be included in a team.
