New Coaching lineup

Three new faces enhance quality coaching lineup

We’re excited to announce that Arana Little Athletics is significantly expanding its coaching team for the 2024/25 athletics season. The addition of three new coaches greatly enhances the experience and qualifications available to our athletes, both existing and new registrants for the upcoming season.

Adam Sputnik holds an AA Level 3 Performance Coach certification in Combined Events and a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. He also possesses a World Athletics Level 1 Officiating Certificate.

Sophie Henderson is a Level 3 accredited Athletics Coach in sprints, hurdles, relays and jumps, specialising in high jump. Sophie has a background in high jump and middle distance, participated in Little Athletics from U6 to U17, and has been coaching for over 10 years.

And finally, we can introduce Tom Barton. Passionate about athletics since the age of 10, Tom specialises in discus and javelin. He competed in Little Athletics until he was 16 and now volunteers as an official whenever he can.

We welcome Adam, Sophie and Tom to ALA and look forward to them working with and guiding our athletes over the course of the new season, kicking off in September.

If there are any senior athletes who aged out over the past couple of seasons who are interested in gaining some coaching experience, please get in touch. We may have options for you to consider in relation to gaining qualifications and working alongside Level 3 coaches to learn and develop on training days, competition nights or supporting our Athletes during competition.
