Our Arana Athletes Amaya Mearns, Tate Van Camp, Sam Shaw and Nathan Wright recently participated in the All School Championships in Sydney and Brisbane with great success.

Its great to see our Arana Athletes develop and achieve their goals through dedication and hard work! We are excited to see what the future holds for these athletes and we are sure these achievements will provide inspiration for all of our Athletes at Arana.

Leading the charge was one of our own Arana Little Athletics captains, Amaya Mearns. Amaya claimed the gold in the 200m in a personal best time of 23.15 seconds, breaking the All School Championship and Under 18 QLD record making her the 2nd fastest Australian under 18 female ever behind Rayleen Boyle. Amaya also took the Silver in the 100m with a PB of 11.49 seconds making her the 7th fastest Under 18 female ever.

Another amazing result came from our Under 15 boys athlete, Tate Van Camp. Tate took the Gold in the 800m and set a Championship record of 1.55.01. This effort broke the Australian All Schools Championship Record that has stood since 1987. Tate also went on to take 4th in the 400m.

Sam Shaw (Under 13 boy) participated at the School Sport National Track and Field in Sydney. Sam had a great meet taking Bronze in 100m with a PB of 12.33 seconds, Silver in 200m with a PB of 12.33 seconds, and combined with Nathan Wright under 12 Boy to take out the Gold in the 4 x 100m relay.

Finally, Nathan Wright (under 12 boy) took on the multi-event tetrathlon placing 1st in the Shot put, 2nd in the 800m, 5th in 100m and 4th in the long jump. These combined to give him 5th place overall for the Under 12 tetrathlon. Nathan also received a call up to participate alongside his Arana team mate Sam Shaw in the 4 x 100m relay seeing our boys come away with the GOLD!

We are incredibly proud of Amaya, Tate, Sam and Nathan as we are of all of our amazing athletes at Arana. We could not ask for better ambassadors for our Centre and look forward to what their future brings.

GO ARANA!
