Helping at Friday night competitions
All parents are expected to help with the running of our Friday night competitions. It is a compulsory for a parent or guardian to be present at the field throughout the competition – if a parent is not present the athlete will not be allowed to compete.
There are various ways that you can help on a Friday night:
- If you’re able to arrive a little earlier, we need help setting up equipment at the start of the night and packing away equipment at the end of the night.
- Age Marshals and assistants – a group of 2 to 3 parents is needed to go around with each age group to manage athletes, supervise the completion of each event and record results. If there are no experienced parents in the group – please ask one of the Committee members for assistance with the running of events.
- Canteen helpers – 4 parents are required each week (1 BBQ + 3 canteen helpers). Please sign up for the canteen roster here.
Your $80 Family bond will be refunded at the end of the season provided you have accumulated 10 volunteer credits which may be earned by assisting on competition nights. Full details on how this works, can be found on the Volunteer bond refund page.
Please note: All applications for bond refunds must be submitted by April 30 (1 month after season close). No late applications will be processed.
Handy event tips
Many parents join their local Centre without the knowledge of how Little Athletics events operate. To assist, Little Athletics Queensland has created a series of “How to” videos. The videos are approximately 60-90 seconds in duration and are designed to give people some brief information so that they have the confidence to help out at weekly meets.

Event Descriptions
Check out this Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) information page briefly detailing what events are on offer through the Little Athletics program.
